Story

Yemen Cannot Wait...

Since early 2015 Yemen has been embroiled in a devastating conflict & is currently in the midst of a major humanitarian crisis.

As a result of the war approximately 233,000 lives have been lost & more than 11,000 children have been killed or injured.

At this moment in time 14 million people across Yemen are facing major food insecurity & 80 percent of the country's entire population is in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.

Countless families & children are now in desperate need as they face displacement & restricted access to food, water & medical care.

They are on the brink of famine & struggling to meet even their most basic of needs.

Right now, 24 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance to survive in Yemen.

Surviving On The Brink: Yemen's Children In Poverty

Millions of children across Yemen have been deprived of the basic necessities required for their survival.

This lack of resources is having a significant impact on their health, welfare & education as well as hindering their prospects of growth & a brighter future.

Crippled Economy - Inflation - Mass Unemployment

Aside from the pain, trauma & suffering caused to life, the war has also contributed to extensive damage of the countrys infrastructure, which include its roads, buildings, medical facilities, educational establishments & sanitation systems.

This has resulted in a further deterioration of living conditions for millions of Yemenis, & also restricted much needed aid from reaching those most in need.

As a result, Inflation is now rampant & unemployment has risen to unprecedented levels.

As it stands a staggering 40 percent of all families in Yemen are forced into debt to pay for the basic essentials that are required for their survival.

With little to no access to basic necessities such as clean water, food, sanitation facilities & medical care, those suffering in Yemen cannot wait & need your urgent support now.

We must stand together to ensure that all Yemenis can receive the help they need.

Winter Season For Those With No Protection

Each year the cold weather puts extra strain on the most vulnerable, in Yemen. Already suffering from possibly the worse humanitarian crisis in the world they have little to no protection against the cold.

Millions of Yemeni people (including the sick, elderly, men, women & children), many of whom are homeless or live in make shift tents remain fearful for their survival as they are left unprepared & exposed to disease, hypothermia & serious health complications.

The situation is particularly dire in rural areas, where families cannot afford basic winter clothing, & may have to resort to burning wood or plastic in order to keep warm.

Drastic actions as such can lead to respiratory illnesses & further endanger the lives of vulnerable individuals.

In order to ensure their survival, it is essential that families in war-torn Yemen receive basic support & assistance for their safety during the winter seasons each year.

Yemen Has One Of The Highest COVID Fatality Rates In The World

For those already suffering from extreme poverty, crisis & war, the Covid-19 outbreak has posed serious threats to their survival with a catastrophic impact on every aspect of their lives.

The number of fatalities in Yemen as a result of Covid-19 is one of the highest in the world, with an estimated 3.6 million cases & 11,000 deaths as of February 2021.

This is especially troubling given that Yemen's healthcare system was already strained by the civil war.

Moreover, hardship has significantly increased due to the pandemic, with more than 70% of Yemen's population now living in extreme poverty (less than $2 a day).

The crisis has prompted millions of people to flee their homes in search of relief,

The situation has also had serious implications for the country's economic development. With unemployment skyrocketing, businesses struggling to stay afloat, & food insecurity growing,

In addition, the pandemic has set back efforts to rebuild infrastructure & restart economic activity in the country.

Yemen is facing one of its darkest periods yet.
