About Special Care Infant Parent Support (SCIPS)
SCIPS was set up to support parents whose babies require neonatal intensive care services at The University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Money raised is used not only for vital life saving equipment, but also for the extra little touches, such as soft furnishings for the nurseries and parent areas, keepsake boxes, bereavement packs, first diaries and nursey fittings etc. Anything to make the parents and siblings stay on the unit a bit easier. We contribute to the Annual Remembrance Service for loved and lost babies.
Volunteers help the charity to hold social events to bring families together throughout the year. This includes monthly coffee mornings, Easter Egg hunt, Teddy Bear’s picnic & Christmas party for parents to come together, share their experiences and offer support to one another.
SCIPS also supports training and education needs of the staff on the unit.
