About Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team
Our Mission Statement is "to save lives and assist the community in emergencies".
Working with Police Scotland, our primary role is as a land based Search and Rescue Team. Our secondary role is to support the wider community, which may be during adverse weather or major incidents.
The team consists of 25 operational team members, all of whom offer their time free of charge, and are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but share a passion for the great outdoors.
The team are dedicated, highly professional and skilled. Team members are proficient in Rope Rescue, Navigation, Off Road Driving, Casualty Care, Search Management and Communications.
As well as searching for missing persons we are often called upon to provide resilience at times of extended power outages, where we check on vulnerable residents to make sure they are ok.
