Thank you for visiting Ellie's page.
As you may know, our beautiful daughter, sister and friend passed away suddenly on February 9th 2010, aged 18. To lose such a young person has been heart-breaking for all those close to her. But my sister was blessed in that she knew nothing but happiness - she had wonderful friends and was living her life to the full at Bournemouth University where she was studying. We lost her unexpectedly, but the blessing is that
we will always remember her as being vibrant, loving and full of fun.
Ellie had epilepsy, a little understood neurological illness, which caused her to have seizures at varying intervals. Her death was due to one of these seizures, a phenomenon known as SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy). However to most people who met her she was a normal, healthy teenager, and she certainly would not let herself be defined, or limited, by her epilepsy. Many other children and teenagers are not so lucky and have to live with illnesses that cause their lives to deteriorate at a slow pace. It must be devastating for family and friends to watch someone's life slip away, powerless to help.
For this reason, as well as supporting
Epilepsy Action (see
http://www.justgiving.com/Ellie-epilepsy-action) we have also chosen the Make-A-Wish foundation to receive donations in Ellie's name, and we know she would have been proud to be associated with it.

About the Make-A-Wish Foundation
This organisation helps to grant a special wish for young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. In 2010, they hope to grant around 1,000 of these wishes throughout the UK; whether it be to play at being James Bond for a day or to swim with dolphins in Florida (something which Ellie had always longed to do.)
Please visit their website if you would like any more information about this wonderful charity:
