QUICK RACE SUMMARY
On a warm humid day where the promised 'light showers' never came, our team of runners showed magnificent determination. Of the 13 runners, 12 managed to complete the undulating course - 10 doing the Half and 2 running the Full marathon, a few of the Half-marathoners even coming away with personal best times. Some sprinted, some hobbled, and some took it steady - all of them can be super proud of themselves.
Significant injuries were overcome, considerable pain was run through, and a wonderful difference has been made through the sponsorship to the work of Lifespace. Thank you so much for all the support and positive comments!
WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE?
Collectively, our team are running over 300 miles, going further than they've ever gone before, to reach, help and inspire young people.
Our team of 13 runners are taking on the challenge of the Shakespeare Half and Full Marathon in April. For many of them, this is their first and longest running challenge. For some of the team, they are doing 2 marathons in 2 weeks...
WHO FOR?
Each of them are running for Lifespace, a unique grassroots charity working with young people, aged 11-18.
...with young people who are experiencing disadvantage and difficulties of all kinds - at risk of exclusion from school; terminal illness in the family; socially isolated; difficulties with drug and alcohol misuse; battling to overcome for all kinds of reasons. All of them valuable, and all of them needing a safe place, a safe person, to tell their story to and find a way forward.
Lifespace's small team of volunteer mentors and educators work with over 900 young people each year, to help their lives be easier & happier, safer & stronger, healthier & lighter...
Lifespace is also licensed to deliver a national parenting course called 'How to drug proof your kids', which assists about 25 local parents each year, giving them additional skills, knowledge and strategies to help prevent drug and alcohol misuse in their families and wider networks.
WHO'S RUNNING?
Of the 13 runners... there are 2 young guys who have been mentored through Lifespace, and a teenage lady doing her Duke of Edinburgh Award; two of our mentors; the Director; the website/IT team; and a number of others who have seen or heard about Lifespace and know that what they are doing can help make good things happen.

MONEY MATTERS
Lifespace exists largely through voluntary gifts and its own fundraising endeavours, alongside getting grants (e.g. from Stratford Town Trust & Norton Foundation) and the 7 schools and additional agencies that request our services also contribute to what Lifespace delivers.
Can you help us towards the finish line, now?
