We did it!!!!!
Thank you so much for all your support...photos to follow!
On Sunday, 1st November I'll be running the New York City Marathon 2009!
I've never done anything like this before and for those of you who have kept track of my training, you'll know it's been a long, hard summer building up to the 26.2 miles......but the race is finally almost here!
At the front of my mind has been my Gran, who died the week of her 99th birthday almost two years ago. During her last few weeks, she was cared for by the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow. They made sure her last days with us were dignified and comfortable, and always had a gentle word for myself and my family as we came to terms with losing her. They provide an amazing service for those who need them, and rely on charitable donations to make this possible. Please support me by donating whatever you can to help the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow take care of other families as they took care of mine.
Thank you so much...and wish me luck!!!
PS.
I couldn't have got through the last six months training, six days a week in all weather, if it wasn't for my best friend and co-runner Rebecca. Like me, this is the first time she's run since high school! Rebecca is running to raise money for Christian Aid and you can support her at www.justgiving.com/RebeccaWeir
