Story

On September 11th 2010 myself and a few of my friends are climbing the highest mountain in the UK to raise money for various charities.

Oldies Club are an organisation focused primarily on rescuing dogs 7+ years. Old dogs can be a fantastic addition to any family and can learn many a new trick! Unfortunately within many rescue shelters older dogs may be overlooked. Oldies help these dogs become noticed and help them reach their loving forever homes also rescuing many dogs themselves through foster homes. The money raised goes towards the vet bills of the dogs in their foster care. They have dogs waiting to come into their care and need more funds to enable them to help. The charity is run completely by volunteers so none of your contributions are spent on salaries or other overheads. Your donation could contribute to saving the life of an older dog who only asks for a warm bed, a decent meal and a little love. An average of £300 is spent on each dog when in the rescue's care. Please help Oldies Club help another dog like Trudie become the gorgeous dog they can be and find their forever home.

Myself and my 2 year old JRT cross will be climbing Ben Nevis to raise money for this worthwhile cause. Until this time we will also train frequently with my own 14 year old crossbreed. Updates will hopefully be made available on our progress in training.

Thank you ever so much for taking the time to look at my page, any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you

Laura

Thank you so much to those who have sponsored me, really is so appreciated.  John, Muffin who is 14 is in training with me at the moment, we have a few small climbs lined up she will be involved in, however if she doesnt respond well to these I couldnt risk taking her up the mountain with me, could never forgive myself if something bad where to happen to her. If she cant do the big climb Totts will be her little mascot as they are best friends :) Will post pictures of us in training shortly

Thank-you!

Update

After much deliberation, the decision was made final last weekend that Muffin will be unable to join us climb Ben Nevis. Both dogs were taken for a thorough vet check to ensure capability of the climb. Totts was given the green light, however Muffin has developed an infection on one of her nails, which requires treatment, and her age also puts her at a disadvantage. :(

Myself and Totts climbed Ben Lomond on the 5/09/2010. We reached the end of the fall summit before deciding it was too late to go further as we were climbing alone. We climbed for 3 hours 20 minutes and took 1 hour 20 minutes to travel back down again. Much much much tougher than I had imagined, Ben Nevis is looking Scary!
