I've raised £200 to help support the Gary Parkinson Trust

My Dad has always been my hero.
Growing up with him as a professional footballer is every son’s dream and I got to live that with my Dad playing for Middlesbrough, Southend United, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Preston North End and Blackpool.
However, in 2010 while coaching the Youth Team at Blackpool FC, my Dad sadly suffered a brain stem stroke and as a result, now suffers from locked-in syndrome.
That is a condition of almost paralysis apart from eye movements, which means he requires around the clock care at our home in Bolton and the use of a wheelchair.
The last year or two has been difficult for all of us, but particularly so for my Dad, who is medically one of the most vulnerable people in our area.
The key to improving his condition is through research which is why I’m running the 2021 Great North Run for the Gary Parkinson Trust and Brain Research UK, who I've already raised over £300 for at https://justgiving.com/fundraising/GreatNorthRun4Parky
Your support in helping me to raise another £200 for the Gary Parkinson Trust, would really help to spur me on across the 13-and-a-bit miles across Newcastle this September.
