Story
On March 25th at 8.48am I was succesful in reaching the top of Mt Kilimanjaro. If you click on the "My video" link to the left you can see the video footage at the top (very very windy !). Between getting up at 5.30 on the Wednesday, setting off to the summit at midnight that night and descending to reach a safe altutude on the Thurdsay at 6pm, we climbed / descended for 34 hours on 2 hours 45 mins sleep.
Thankyou to everybody that supported me.
Hello, my name is Stephen Roberts and I am a resident of Symington Village in Ayrshire.
My Mum died six years ago and while this was a difficult time, my mother and the rest of our family were given a tremendous level of care and support from the staff at The Ayrshire Hospice. Over the past seven years I have been a regular supporter of the Hospice. Every year it requires millions of pounds of charitable donations to allow it to continue to provide the incredible service it delivers to our community. Having never climbed anything taller than a set of stairs, later this month and as part of a 12 strong team of fund raisers, I will be attempting to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. While I realise that we are still in the midst of the credit crunch, I would be extremely grateful if you would consider supporting our group’s effort and sponsor our climb. During our six day ascent, we will be walking in excess of 60km through climatic zones ranging from tropical to arctic and are likely to experience altitude induced extreme nausea, severe headaches and slightly sore feet ! No amount is too small or too large. Cheques made out to “Ayrshire Hospice Fundraising” or cash donations would all be very gratefully received. Donations can be handed over to any member of my family or alternatively posted to me at: Craigowan, 30 Brewlands Rd, Symington. KA15QY.Donations can also be made on-line at http://www.justgiving.com/StephenMRoberts
Thanks in advance for any donation. Stephen.
