This Land's End to John o'Groats thing occurred to me about five years ago whilst visiting Land's end on a family holiday in Cornwall.  It looked like a difficult but do-able challenge so I decided the to give it a go.

It's quite a way.  I'll be taking an "easterly" route passing through Bath, Stratford on Avon, Chesterfield, York, Newcastle, Dundee, Aberdeen, and Inverness.  988 miles end to end according to Google Maps.  I hope to do it in 12 days on my bike with the first day being Sunday 10 May 2009.

I thought it would be a good idea to raise some cash for a good cause but couldn't decide between Macmillan Cancer Support and Ashgate Hospice.  Ashgate Hospice is as described on the left and it is only a few minutes walk from my home in Chesterfield.  They do a fantastic job with people who really do need a place that cares.
