 Jubilate Raid Pyreneen is an event organised to contribute to the overall fundraising efforts for the Jubilate Tribute Fund. (For the specific aims of the fund please click on the blue underlined word)

 

We wanted a “whacky” event to celebrate a life that was full of Joie de vie and as crazy as becoming a plasterer at 56! Joo did that and we are going to complete The Jubilate Raid Pyreneen, cycling from Hendaye on the Atlantic coast to Cerbere on the Mediterranean coast over 10 days during the Summer of 2012. This Ride is 450 miles including 18 serious road climbs! The profile is shown in the photograph opposite!

 

5 inappropriate amigos (known from here on as the 5ia’s)  handlebar moustaches intact, have agreed to do this ride. Madness they all cry!

 

·         Your too fat old and unfit they said to David,

 

·         two snapped cruciates and drop foot they cried at Edward,

 

·         wrist rattle and pain they advised William,

 

·         just a bit of fitness, Jonny, would be helpful they cautioned,

 

·         rugby is one thing, cycling another they told Jonny Charlton……

 

the 5ia’s said ok but we are going to do it anyway in honour of Jubilate!

 

We are committed to the training funding and completion of this ride…..all we ask is that you dig deep and contribute to ensuring that we help as many people as possible who want to be looked after, and to die, in their own home environment can do so because the professional help required is available.  

 

In recognition of Judith’s commitment to others we have all agreed to set up the Jubilate Tribute Fund. The sole aim of the fund is to pay, with your help, for as many Marie Curie Nursing hours as possible.

 

Judith, as many others, wanted us to do anything we could to avoid her having to spend any time in hospital, and certainly not to die there.  We managed to nurse Judith at home right up to her death on the 26th February 2010. We had terrific support from family and friends and still needed as much support as we could get from the Marie Curie Nursing Fund.

 

Many in this predicament need the assistance of the professional nurses provided by the Marie Curie Nursing Fund. Sadly there are simply not the funds to supply as many nurses as are required.

 

 

Every £20.00 raised by this fund will contribute another hour of nursing care in the home.
