When I was younger, I naively thought it was only old people that got Cancer. As I grew up, I found out that this wasn't the case and so many people close to me have been affected. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't know someone who has been affected by this in some way.
More recently I found out that one of my friends, who is the same age as me, has been diagnosed. My friend is so strong and brave and such an inspiration and has told me that Cancer Research UK have been a great support and information service in the past months. That's why I've decided to do something to raise some money.
This year, I'm turning 30 and so I am going to pledge to run 30 races in 2014 and raise some money for a very worthwhile cause. My races include race for life's, parkruns, 10ks, 5ks, a kilomathon, possibly a 5 mile run in the sea and a few half marathons. I'm not very fast and there's a good chance I'll come in the last few places in some of the races I've entered but that doesn't bother me. If you want to run/jog/walk with me or come along and support, I'd love to have you there. (Especially later in the year when it's pretty cold and I still have races to run!)
A full schedule of races will be posted soon...it's a work in progress just now.
As part of my 30 for 30, I'll be running Edinburgh parkrun on my 30th birthday. Even if you've never run before, please come along and join me.
I know most people sponsored me for my 500miles in 2012 so I thank you in advance for you generosity.
