Story
I'm 15, I was born with hypothyroidism, as was my 5 year old brother. My mum has hypothyroidism, too! It definitely runs in our family! The British Thyroid Foundation has helped me learn about my condition. They provide information for adults, kids, and teens (and their parents!) about various thyroid conditions. They recently updated their website and other educational materials.
In 2019, I got to be part of their short film series for young people and their parents. Here's my story: https://youtu.be/QC3UPO4aypI. Here's a playlist of other people's stories on their YouTube channel too: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDsRR5mxEnysVdm2qhw1tAT5hHkTKSy_A
Here is what the British Thyroid Foundation says:
Being diagnosed and living with a thyroid disorder can have a big impact on your life. But you are not on your own. We're here to support you and the thousands of people across the UK living with thyroid disorders. We work with medical professionals so our information is reliable and evidence based. We fund vital research into thyroid disease. Our telephone contacts and Facebook groups offer peer support and our local groups support you in your local community. We rely on donations and fundraising to continue our work.
