Subulus Salaam is a Small Muslim charity dedicated to supporting low income Muslim families experiencing food insecurity, particularly those with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). We provide essential food assistance and clothing during the winter months and throughout Ramadhan.

Story

The Prophet PBUH said:

"He is not a Muslim who goes to bed satiated while his neighbour goes hungry".

                                                 &

"Jibril kept recommending treating neighbours with kindness until I thought he would assign a share of inheritance"

Many of us give our charity back "home", and rightly so. However, "home" is also here; where we live and have grown up. Our brothers and sisters here in London also need us. Let us not ignore their plight this Ramadan; living in the West is not automatic protection, a blanket against insecurity and poverty.

This Ramadan, I am supporting 'Subulus Salaam' distribute financial aid to many families. A minimum of £50 per family, to help bring some relief and ease to people who are often forgotten and not seen. Let us follow our proud prophetic tradition which teaches us to help those in need, near and far. Not just those closest to us, by blood or affiliation, but everywhere including those in our local community. Let us follow in the footsteps of the Prophet peace and blessings of Allah be upon him who was the best of examples, and become the best of neighbours.

'Subulus Salaam' collects and distributes both Zakat Al-Mal and Sadaqah to poor families and individuals in London. All the beneficiaries of this charity are Zakat eligible, and they are all struggling with poverty, and lead lives characterised by deep insecurity and hardship. Many of them either have no recourse to public funds, and if they do, they do not receive their full benefit entitlement. This is often due to the interaction of a complicated set of factors, which makes them especially vulnerable and helpless. As a result many of them rely on kindness and charity to survive. This is not uncommon right now in the UK, where poverty and homelessness are on the rise, and affecting more people than ever before.

This charity is unique; it is completely run by volunteers and has 100% Zakat policy. The charity has no paid staff, and the costs they incur, which is usually part of service delivery are either covered
by kind donations made for administration costs, or by the volunteers
themselves. So please, where you can and how you can, also support their efforts.
