About Working Chance
Working Chance is an award-winning, pan-London charity creating a revolution in restorative recruitment. Founded in 2007 to address a gap in provision for women ex-offenders, Working Chance supports women in prison and the community to find quality work with mainstream employers, helping to break the intergenerational cycle of re-offending and disadvantage.
Working Chance aims to become a national centre of excellence providing a replicable, proven model to prevent and reduce crime and recidivism amongst vulnerable women ex-offenders and care leavers, through employment. It also aims to be the go-to national voice on all things regarding employment of women offenders or at risk of entering the Criminal Justice System (CJS).
Working Chance takes a distinct approach to working with ex-offenders – focusing on candidates’ futures rather than their pasts. We empower candidates by focusing on their strengths and ambitions and take a non-judgemental approach in helping them to move on from the criminal justice system. We also seek to challenge preconceptions about ex-offenders wherever we find them and speak out about taking a common-sense approach to the disclosure of criminal convictions.
