Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are completing the Sumatra Jungle Challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Cancer hits one of us every 2 minutes. When it does, the effects can be devastating. Macmillan is there to get people back on their feet. Whether that’s one of their nurses helping with the side effects of chemo, or their finance team working through a benefits claim for someone too ill to work. When cancer hits, Macmillan is there, supporting people as they fight to get their lives back on track.
Please donate as much as you can to this fantastic cause - every pound raised will help us reach more people affected by cancer – £191 pays for a Macmillan nurse for a day.
We will be embarking on a tough 5 day trek, deep into the Gunung Leuser National Park, the home of the Sumatran Orangutan, where we will encounter steep slippery ascents and precipitous drops amid intense humidity. Our tent each night will be a simple bamboo frame, covered with a plastic tarp. At the end of the trail, we will arrive at the ‘planting trees for the future’ Tree Replanting Project, where we will spend half a day helping to restore and protect critical Orangutan habitat.
In addition to raising money and awareness for Macmillan; by participating in this challenge we will help to contribute vital funds towards the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS), who are dedicated to the conservation of Sumatran Orangutans and their forest home.
