Fundraising for Alzheimer Scotland
Story
Every two years we select a charity, local or national, for which to fundraise and enhance awareness levels. Our current chosen charity is ALZHEIMER SCOTLAND!
Although a wonderful total has been raised during this two year period, the choir are very aware that our chosen charity partners have missed out on several live concert events during the Covid19 pandemic. We are therefore delighted to announce that our partnership is to be continued for a third year, during which we hope to be back entertaining live audiences!!
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. There aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. They provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, and campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.
They have Dementia Resource Centres in 21 different locations across Scotland. Those centres provide a safe and friendly environment for people with dementia and their carers to visit and take part in a wide variety of activity groups.
They operate a 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline which provides information and emotional support to people with dementia, carers, families, friends and professionals.
There is also a network of Dementia Advisors employed by Alzheimer Scotland who work in local communities to support people with a diagnosis by giving advice and information.
They have over 9,000 members, over 90,000 Dementia Friends and are supported by over 1,000 volunteers.

At the heart of our singing in WMVC is a cherished tradition of fundraising for charity, with which we try our very best every year and carry out with great enthusiasm. Over the years, in addition to raising awareness for our charity partner, we have raised in excess of £90,000 for a wide range of good causes.
