Story
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
For those who don't know me, my name is David Walton and I head up the Employment Law Team at Gorvins Solicitors, based in Stockport.
In a moment of madness, but all in a good cause, I decided to take on the daunting task of climbing the 214 Lake District hills and mountains described in Alfred Wainwright’s Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells. The idea of “Wally Walks the Wainwrights” was born.
The whole point of the exercise is to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.
The challenge officially began on 1 January 2016 with a climb up the ironically-named “Low Fell” and I hope to complete the exercise within the calendar year. According to a register maintained by the Long Distance Walkers Association, less than 750 people have climbed all 214 peaks, and I am hoping to add my name to the list, raising as much as I can for the charity along the way.
Please donate whatever you can to support my challenge and the charity. You can sponsor me a small amount for every peak I climb or for every milestone I achieve (e.g. every 25 walks) or just make a single donation - it is completely up to you. Every contribution would be gratefully received and spur me on to scale new heights!
Your support means an awful lot and please feel free to keep an eye on my progress via the Facebook page, dedicated to the challenge - https://www.facebook.com/wallywalkswainwrights/.
Via the Facebook page, you can also get in touch and if you fancy joining me at all on my adventures in the Lake District then I would love to see you.
Thank you!
