So have I finally lost the plot? In February 2016 I'm going to climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania!

The why: I am wanting to raise much needed funds for our charity Wessex Heartbeat. This small charity makes such a difference to the lives of people affected by heart conditions. Having visited myself the refurbished Paediatric Ocean Ward and the new Young Adults Cardiac Unit, the state of the art Education Centre and the wonderful Heartbeat House at Southampton Hospital, I was so moved and impressed by all that the charity has accomplished entirely through donations and fundraising. To continue their good works more donations are required, new much needed projects still to come are: The Cardiac Day Case Lounge and the Heart Failure Service Appeal.

I want to play a part and an ongoing role.

Kilimanjaro is the tallest free standing mountain in the world standing at 5895m above sea level. 7 days of tough climbing with oxygen levels depleting to 50% and temperatures of sub-zero, anyone that knows me, knows that I don't do cold so this alone will be an enormous challenge!

This endeavour requires mental and physical preparation. As part of my training looking ahead I have Snowdon to tick and and the Thames Path Challenge, a gruelling 100K continuous walk from Putney Bridge to Henley on Thames.

My goal is to raise for this magnificent charity Wessex Heartbeat: £2500.00.
