Story
Instead of going to school, 3.45m children as young as 5 years old are sent to work in Bangladesh where they endure long hours for little pay. The UK Bangladesh Education Trust has transformed the lives of hundres of child labourers.
This project of UKBET will annually educate 100 children in hazardous jobs and support their progress away from child labour into school or vocational training. Every child's literacy, numeracy and life skills will improve as will their levels of health and wellbeing. We will work with the children's families to generate the support they need to rise out of poverty and provide for their household without having to send their children to work. Community advocacy will increase understanding of child rights.
