Story
The Udzungwa Forest Project (UFP) is a conservation initiative based in the threatened forests of Tanzania. The project aims to safeguard tropical forests by training and supporting local people, introducing sustainable technologies, teaching in local schools, restoring degraded forests, and gathering scientific data. The Udzungwa Mountains are an area of high biodiversity value, however deforestation is seriously threatening the unique species community.
UFP is a collaboration between Flamingo Land and the University of York CIRCLE research centre. Fundraising events have included Andrew McKay's Perth 10K run, and a human zoo exhibit, where four CIRCLE Research Assistants spent a week living and sleeping in a zoo enclosure at Flamingo Land!
