Story
I write Swift and SwiftUI tutorials throughout the year, but more importantly I also try to give back not only to the Swift community but also to the wider world. Whether that's sponsoring events, mentoring, buying tickets for under-represented groups, volunteering at schools, or creating Swift for Good, my goal is always the same: I want to help make a difference in the live of folks who need it most.
What's the plan?
December 22nd is my birthday, and I'll be celebrating it with my family most of the day. But at 5pm I'll be doing something special: I'll be running a free SwiftUI livestream that walks folks through building a complete app from scratch. I'm using this stream to raise money for an important charity called Julian House.
Julian House provides life changing support to over 1,400 vulnerable individuals across the south west of the UK, including those suffering from homelessness, women and children escaping domestic abuse and adults with learning difficulties. Alongside their emergency hostel, we also provide supported accommodation and training and education opportunities to help people gain confidence, re-build their lives and fulfil their potential.
Any donations to this page go straight to the charity, not to me. If you are based in the UK you can safely check the Gift Aid box because you are not receiving anything in return for your donation.
About the stream
If you want to come along to my livestream – and I hope you do! – or if you find my work helpful, please consider making a donation on my JustGiving page. Even $5 makes a difference, because more people than ever are spending Christmas in hard conditions and need our help.
You do not need to donate in order to come to the stream. Please, I want you to come even if you can afford to donate nothing – come and learn some SwiftUI, come and ask questions, and come and meet other folks. December 22, 5pm GMT, right here: https://youtu.be/aP-SQXTtWhY
Of course, you can also donate without attending – maybe you want to watch the video later, maybe you've benefited from my work and want to say thank you, or maybe you just want to contribute something to an important cause. Either way, I'm really grateful for your support!
