Story
So my Running and Fundraising started on January the 26th 2011 the day after my sister lost her battle to Diabetes. It was a difficult month after getting told we gonna lose her on Christmas day but staying focused was the objective. So it started like so many others I said I would run for her while she was in hospital. In the time we were saying goodbyes mum turned to me and said you can run for her and now that i did. So the promise I had made the next day I found a race my first it was the Manchester 10k even more special it would be on her birthday the 15th May. It turned into a fantastic family day and I was so proud to have completed it.
Now this year 5 years later and marking her anniversary I will be competing in London Marathon also a Ironman70.3 All to raise as much as I can for Diabetes and help others.
So far the Fundraising is going well
So I started with a raffle the end of last year raising a near £500. Also at Christmas time with help from a good friend Daniel Ivey and his fantastic Runfies of the World. We managed to set a Virtual run in memory of my sister Deb. Run or walk 5k between 2 special dates 25th dec and 25th January. We had just under 70 sign up with family & friends all taking park. Running buddies doing their bit at the local park run on the 2nd January making it a special event. Also with a cake sale and a mothers day raffle the total is increasing.
Before London and Ironman I have an event at the local Tesco Warrington which will spinning (bike) 170 miles The Road to London. hoping more funds. Then we have a Diabetes Charity Fun Night also on the 16th April.
My goal to help raise as much as I can knowing I would be making our Debbie proud with such fantastic support from family and friends.I cannot thank you all enough. Thank you for visiting and helping to raise funds for DIABETES UK.
