Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi, it's Toni!

I was diagnosed with JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis) when I was 3 years old. It is a hidden disease and most people associate arthritis with old people but it can affect young children too.  Because of this some children aren't as open about having it so I want to help them by letting them know that they're not alone.

Now my condition is worse and I have to use stronger medication. I have one injection weekly and another one every 2 weeks which I do myself at home. This medication means I have a lowered immune system which could be scary now with the Corona Virus.

I hope to raise both awareness and money to help those who have it a lot worse than me.  I feel fortunate that I can still do what I enjoy doing most of the time, which is gymnastics and want to help those who have to sacrifice doing what they love due to JIA.

The 2.6 Challenge is trying to raise extra money for charities that are losing money from the London Marathon that had to be cancelled.

I've been challenged by my Mum, Janine to finally learn to walk on my
hands (26 steps) and raise money for one of our arthritis charities. I have wanted to learn to walk on my hands since last summer but arthritis in my wrist has been stopping me. With the new medication it's not as painful so now is a good time to give it a go.
