On 26th June I'll be setting off at 5am with a group of other keen cyclists where we will be racing up the length of the country in a relay format trying to get from the most southerly point in England to the most northern point in Scotland in less than 40 hours.
This will require us to be on the road for 40 hours straight averaging more than 20mph tackling whatever weather comes our way, tiredness, logistics, and finally the Scottish highlands!
We first thought of this challenge in September 2020 after months of lockdown, also having an 8-month-old at the time I was pretty sleep deprived and very unfit so this served as an incredible feat to focus on. With well over 150 hours of dedicated training under my belt, 10% of my body weight disappeared, and hours and hours of planning, we're on the final stretch.
If we go under 40 hours, there's the potential of a Guinness World record up for grabs, assuming no one else sets a faster time in the meantime, which will certainly be an added bonus.
