Story
Hey!
I'm Tom. I'm assuming you know me, but if not, you are equally welcome here in this little box of text. Thanks for stopping by. My current life summed up in one sentence? I'm 22 years old, living in London, doing what I love.
So what's all the fuss about?
On 22nd May 2007, age 14, I was told that I had Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Happily, my illness only survived about 6 months of kick-ass chemotherapy and two weeks of radiotherapy and so I was told fairly quickly that I was considered cured! HOORAH. So that's good. Here I am eight years on having the best time ever and just thought it'd be good to remember that strange, far-off time and see if we can make something cool out of it.
I'm not a running fanatic, but I do enjoy it and have been going every now and then recently. I suddenly had the thought that I could do a sponsored run. My plan? To do eight 5k runs - one a day in the eight days leading up to the eighth anniversary of my diagnosis. So, from the 15th of May to the 22nd, that's what I'm going to try to do.
I've chosen to raise money for 'Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research' who, despite having a name that's rather tricky to spell, do lots of awesome research to help people like me get better. I count myself very fortunate that I was able to be cured - there are a lot of people who can't just yet. LaLR are dedicated to making sure everyone can be fixed properly. Wouldn't that be cool?
I was inspired by seeing someone who's trying to run a 5k every day of 2015 - if someone can do that, surely I can do a mere eight? Right...? Cross your fingers for me, and donate if you can.
