Tim Barnes died early on Saturday 27th June, after a long battle with cancer. After many years of treatment, help and support at Bournemouth hospital, and watching the new facility taking shape, he wanted to see something positive come out of the situation.
We would like to raise money to support the Royal Bournemouth Hospital Orchard Garden project.
The Orchard Garden Project was set up to raise money to fund landscaped gardens that will benefit patients being treated in the new Jigsaw Building. These include cancer and blood disorder patients as well as those being treated in the Women’s Health Unit and the Renal Unit.
Due to open in the autumn and located outside of the chemotherapy area in the new Jigsaw Building, the Orchard Garden will run between the two buildings and wind around to the lake.
Different themed areas within the gardens will allow patients to visit an outside setting that is safe and designed to capitalise on the healing power of gardens. Numerous seating areas will allow patients to sit and observe the gardens and lake to really draw on the relaxation qualities that nature gives. All areas of the garden will be developed to ensure that patients with mobility difficulties and that need medical equipment at all times can also benefit from the gardens and give them a retreat from their treatment.
With the project target standing at £200,000, we need you to help make this project a blooming success and give patients a therapeutic oasis to enjoy.
