Story
The Rwanda Government believe that a closer relationship with their East African neighbours, such as Kenya and Uganda, where English is widely spoken, will improve their economy. They believe that sport, and in particular cricket, can help strengthen that.
Therefore, I intend to visit Rwanda with a team of Sports Coaches in October 2015 to work with schools in the Rusizi district. We will deliver coaching to children in 10 schools and will provide training to staff in order to equip them with the necessary skills to continue coaching their pupils after we leave.
As well as working in schools and supporting young people, we will make donations to local schools, while also supporting our fellow charities Cricket Without Boundaries (which educates on HIV/Aids awareness through cricket) and the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation (building Rwanda's first cricket stadium).
In the lead up to this trip, I will also be undertaking a number of other activities including the Three Peaks Challenge in August.
