We are fundraising for the final stage of the Lewisham Urban Opera, a project for the Lewisham Borough of Culture 2022. Since September 2021, through 100s of workshops in the community and in schools, a talented group of local creative professionals have been sharing skills to grow our new urban opera community group & have, in those few months, become a creative family. We have been working towards a brand new people's opera, bringing voice, joy and expression for our wonderfully diverse & growing group of Lewisham residents, improving the well-being of participants & arts professionals alike. What's more, the combined talents, energy & generosity of spirit of our group has already created a show that is bursting to be released from the page. Written & scored by the fantastic Gwyneth Herbert & wonderful dramaturg Susannah Tresilian, directed by me - created & performed by the community, a celebration of Lewisham that needs to be shared - our Urban Opera.

I am running, cycling, walking and running again - with as many participants, friends and wonderful colleagues as can join me - a full Marathon through the streets of Lewisham on 29th May, because we love this amazing project, know you will too, and it needs financial support. 4 x 6.5 mile circuits, taking in some of the special places associated with the project, like the Green Man, Beckenham Place Park, and the Ravensbourne River, starting at 7am and finishing (we hope!) at around 2pm.
