Story

Thank you for stopping by and looking at our page.

Most of you will know someone who has been affected by cancer and how this can change your way of life, not only for the person on their journey but the entire family.

Here at the Hummingbird Centre we support anyone affected by cancer allowing them a safe space to be themselves and to forget even if just for a little while.

We have been renting a beautiful premises for the past 8 years that has allowed us to expand from three small rooms to taking over three entire buildings. The time has come to expand our services once more and sadly the space no longer allows this to happen. We have decided it is time to find our forever home and we have been fortunate enough to come across the perfect property with land that will allow The Hummingbird to flourish.

We have never asked the public for monetary support and have always believed in fundraising and gaining grants. Sadly, we are under severe time constraints to secure the property and with the effects of Covid we have no choice but to seek your help to secure the long term future of a very well loved and needed  service within the community.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

About the charity

The Hummingbird Centre provides Complementary Therapy, Counselling support and Friendship for people affected by cancer in the Bicester and surrounding areas. Please donate to support our cause. Sadly there are many people affected by cancer, the growing town of Bicester in Oxfordshire has, until now, had no local place for guests and their families to meet, that is why we formed The Hummingbird Centre. We offer a friendly and welcoming centre, somewhere for people to relax, meet others in a similar situation, use the various complementary therapy treatments available or simply to have a break and a cup of tea. Counselling support and guidance is available together with arts and craft activities and much more. We provide the opportunity to escape daily life pressures, talk to people who can help and support practically and emotionally. As with many charities we are reliant on the goodwill of volunteers and supporters . Please help us raise funds for this extremely worthwhile centre, all donations are very gratefully received and wisely spent to provide the support to our guests and their loved ones, helping them cope and live well.
