On Saturday 21st June Ifit-uk Manchester will be entering Total Warrior in Leeds. We're to expect mud, hills, water, fire, more mud and ice as we'll be put through our paces on a gruelling course. We can also expect obstacles including Human BBQ, The Shocker, The Plunge, You Tube, Worm Muncher and Hang Tough (to name a few).
We have been preparing for this course for a while and will be making sure that all of our team members make it through to the end.
One 3 year old little girl, Tilly Monks, who attends mini warriors at I-fituk has a story to share and I-fituk want to raise money to support those charities which have supported her journey in life so far.
We would like to raise money for two charities, Alder Hey Childrens Hospital & TOFS. Associated with this page are two other pages which you can choose to donate to.
Remember, every little helps and by donating you are supporting more children that have serious conditions.
Tilly Monks was born 17th May 2010 with Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF) a rare congenital condition that affects one in every 3,500 babies and is when a baby is born with a conjoined windpipe and esophagus. For Tilly, the condition dictated that she had to be transferred immediately from Warrington Hospital to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and within 24 hours she had undergone major surgery to separate her esophagus from her windpipe, then had both ends of her esophagus connected. Post operation, Tilly was admitted to Intensive Care where she stayed for the next 4 days before being transferred to the Neo Natal unit for a further 5 days. Tilly was also born with a micro eye and only has sight in one eye, another condition associated with TOFS.
Whilst at Alder Hey Tilly received exceptional care, the skill of the surgeons undoubtedly saved her life and the amazing care received when in ICU and Neo Natal has subsequently helped Tilly on her road to recovery.
From our time spent at Alder Hey it became apparent how many children are seriously ill and put into perspective the fantastic work that is performed by the hospital. This appeal is intended as a thank you but also to support the pioneering work undertaken at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
All donations will help make a difference by enabling the hospital to research medical conditions, buy vital equipment, build a better environment and provide dedicated facilities for children and their families and for TOFS to support families born with a TOF child.
