Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. My daughter Francesca, her boyfriend Daniel, my brother Andrew and myself, expertly supported by Margaret, are going to cycle from Roscoff to Nerja, near Malaga. We are doing this for Patrick, an amazing son, brother and friend to many. The family and his friends elected to support Canine Partners in his memory and have already sponsored the training of one dog called Lester. "Canine Partners is a registered charity that trains dogs to transform the lives of people with disabilities, including veterans and current serving members of HM Armed Forces. The dogs are trained to help with every day tasks such as opening and shutting doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches and fetching help in an emergency. These are truly remarkable Partnerships between a person and a dog!!" http://www.caninepartners.org.uk
The Roscoff to Nerja bike ride will take place in May 2017 and the plan is to complete an average of 100 miles a day. The ride will be the final effort in an 11 month campaign starting with a 68 mile Essex Road Sportive on July 3rd 2016. Patrick set the standard with an incredibly fast time in the London to Brighton charity ride. He left me behind and gave his Mum a very proud moment as he entered Brighton Sea Front. I am sure we will not let him down!
The start of the ride is getting closer and closer and with it a little nervousness. None of us have done anything like this before but we know that Patrick would have led from the front. Training is more focused than ever! The 32,000 feet of hill climbing, mainly in Spain, is demanding that we get additional capacity in our lungs and legs!
