Last year, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, and was pushed around the 5k course in a wheelchair by my team. This year, I'm in remission and I'll be able to walk with everyone else. It is because of the research that Cancer Research UK fund that I am able to do that this year.
I am lucky that Hodgkin's has a very good prognosis, and the 5 year survival rate is around 90%. However many other cancers have a very poor prognosis, and it is the work of researchers funded by your donations that will change this, and also find kinder treatments than the ones already available.
