Kate’s Mum lost her battle with cancer on the 4th of August 2015.
To help work towards a world without cancer, we will be cycling across the Pyrenees as part of the "Miles For Mum" fundraising campaign for Cancer Research UK and The Bedford Hospitals Charity.
The route starts near Perpignan on the Mediterranean coast, traverses the full range of the Pyrenees on the Spanish side and ends 650 miles to the West at Amuaitz, on the Atlantic coast near San Sebastián.
We will be ‘bikepacking’ unsupported - carrying all our gear on mountain bikes. We’ll be camping along the way, picking up coffee and food at every opportunity and will treat ourselves to a proper bed once in a while (maybe even a day off).
We set off on the 24th of April, we’re aiming to complete the route in 3 weeks but we have until the 24th May to reach the other end (that’s 20-30 miles per day, with a lot of UP and DOWN).
Yes it's a bloody long way but Kate’s Mum was an exceptional woman. Dig deep!
We’ll post updates along the way.
