Helenas pink and fluffy half and full marathon!

Team photo

hello!

I really appreciate you reading my fundraising page, I'll try and keep it short!....

So here are the facts:

I really enjoy running (I do.)

Its a sport I can actually do, it doesnt involve an off side rule, lines or goals etc!

Its acceptible to wear wear illumionus pink lycra AND I can listen to Take That and Ndubz (even sing along to) without making other peoples ears bleed.

For the last two years I've paid for a place to run a half marathon, just for fun.

(Although by mile 10 I did question my sanity.)

(I still do.)

Turning 30, I wanted to celebrate life by completing a full marathon and recently I have been given a really good reason to. Please read on.

The week before Xmas 2011 I was faced with a terribly sad and life changing experience.

I was approached by a gentleman who said that his partner had passed away. I immediately started CPR on the young lady however with the great team I had with me and all the equipment and knowledge that we were able to give to her, she very sadly did not survive.

She was only 4 years older than myself.

The story develops that she was incredibly ill with advanced liver cancer. Bravely and regardless of her life threatening illness, she had taken the decision to live her life fully. Recently engaged and planning a wedding, she was relocating with her partner to be near her family.

Her partner said that in the short two years that he had known her, he had found his soul mate.

Im an ordinary person and Im lucky to be me. I dont struggle to run or walk, skip or jump, let alone breath or sing (badly!).

Not everyone has the incredible family and friends network that I do, or the physical or financial ability to do the simple things that I have taken for granted in my life so far.

26 miles is going to be a challenge, Im yet to run past 13 miles ever!

Please help me support either of the following two charities.

Both equally important to me are the Martletts Hospice in Sussex, which cares until the end for those with cancer and other complex diseases and also Get Kids Going, a charity for disabled children and young adults providing the chance to participate in sport and take part in events like marathons.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 28%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too.

That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

So please dig deep and donate now.
