Tour-de-Bakeries - 1200 miles later
I would like to thank every one who has so far made a kind donation to the six good causes that our colleagues have chosen to support at the different David Wood Baking sites across the country.
We finished the 16 day ride on Monday 22nd May with Charlie Howe cycling up from Nottingham with me after a fantastic trip around the bakeries covering 1200 miles.
I would like to dedicate this ride to my special friend Dick Howe who sadly passed away at the beginning of May after his brave fight with prostate cancer over the last few years. Dick last year supported us over the whole ride driving a van ahead of us, motivating us, feeding us, and most importantly giving us directions round the country - giving us a scrap a paper at each rest stop telling us which way to go for the next few hours until the next place we planned to meet him - usually getting there as planned but sometimes getting told off by Dick for going the wrong way! This year it was a much harder trip as we had to carry everything we needed with us on the bikes for the whole trip and sadly we didn't have Dick's fantastic encouragement that kept us going last year.
I would like to thank all the people who cycled with me on various days including Paul Ward, Mike Roberts, Richard Youd, Chris Harris, Craig Oseland, Simon Breakspear, John Howe, Matthew Britton, Charlie Howe and Oliver Wood for the last mile.
Please let's all try and encourage as many people as we can to make a donation (no matter how small or large) to one or more of the fantastic charities we are trying to help with their brilliant work helping people less fortunate than ourselves.
Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.
