Fight against HIV and AIDS. Ay-oh!

Team photo

Thanks for visiting my fundraising main page.

In the run up to World Aids Day on 1st December, I'm raising money to fight HIV and AIDS by taking part in a series of events, mostly 10km runs, but also one very exciting surprise day at work: Freddie for a Day. That's right, I'll be dressed as Freddie Mercury for the entire day at work.

"Why should I donate?" I hear you ask. Well, I've only ever done three 10km runs in my life and I plan to run another three as part of this fundraising campaign - a big undertaking for a heavier bloke like me. They will be taking place over the course of a couple of months but in total it will mean I've run over a half marathon. But the biggest reason you should donate is because of my precious, beloved beard. As part of Freddie for a Day, I'll be going all out and shaving off my beard for the first time in 9 years, leaving only the moustache to mimic Freddie's. No one at work will have ever seen me without one. So, I hope this alone will attract lots of sponsorship.

The wonderful charities being supported are: Terrence Higgins Trust, Mercury Phoenix Trust and Prepster (via Positive East).

Find out a little bit about each of the great charities by visiting the pages below. There's also some extra commentary about why they mean so much to me. For those of a political standpoint, some are quite impassioned, so please do give them a glance.

I would encourage a split donation between them all, if you could. For example, if you plan to donate £30, put £10 towards each, but I will be 1000% grateful if you supported even just one of them.

You'll see my combined fundraising target on the right. Your donation can really help me smash this goal. I have a combined total target of £1200 but as with most things I do, I won't be completely satisfied if I don't make the individual goals I've set out to achieve for all the wonderful charities listed.

A list of the events are as follows:

- 10km run on 3rd Aug at Victoria Park

- Dressing as Freddie Mercury for a day on 5th September

- 10km run on 9th October at the Olympic Park

- Ending with a 10km run on 30th November in Victoria Park for the Red Run culminating my fundraising for World Aids Day.

All that is left to say is THANK YOU.

Rocchi
