Sooooo this is what all the running stuff is about. I'm doing a Half Marathon. ME.... Mother of 3, Cake Lover and former Couch Potato Extraordinaire has crowbared her butt off the sofa and is tackling a half marathon! Seriously wtf.....
Needless to say this is a BIG challenge for me for many a reason but I won't bore you with detail.
I have chosen two charities that are rather unknown. The first is the Twins and Multiple Births Association. Tamba being a charity that helps and invests in research in the field of multiple pregnancy and births. Its terrifying when you find out you are unexpectedly pregnant with twins or multiples but even more terrifying when you start looking into complications etc. I was lucky with my two but other families suffer tragedies that are heartbreaking ton say the least.
The second is The Circulation Foundation which is the UK charity for Vascular Disease of all sorts. This is close to my heart (pardon the pun) as multiple members of my family and close friends have suffered from Aneurysms. Most importantly my Dad who suffered from a AAA a few years back rendering him unable to go on an airplane and had to have major heart surgery this year due to an aneurysm in one of the vessels to his heart.
My Uncle had one burst on his spine and paralize him from the waist down. And a close friend had one burst in her brain whilst pregnant and luckily both her an the baby survived. It's more common than people think and vascular disease accounts for 40% of deaths in the UK.
So please spare a few pennies if you can. I'm not asking you to donate to both, but if you'd like to that would obviously be awesome.
