Alright boys and girls!
Travis and Pappa Bacon here! Earlier this year we decided to do the 2011 Great North Run. We originally applied to run for the Butterwick Hospice, which my brother spent a number of years in before passing away in the December of 2000.
We were unsuccessful in that application but managed to secure places with Help The Hospices instead, which is a general charity that spreads the donations it receives to multiple hospices.
Neither of us have run properly in a long time (well, never really for Travis) and between us we've had 4 knee operations (3 were Travis' and 1 was Ian's) and the discs in my Ian's back have pretty much worn away! On top of that he turned 50 last year, so doing this isn't an easy task for either of us!
I [Travis] currently volunteer at St. Teresa's Hospice in Darlington, and both my time here and trips to the Butterwick with my brother and the rest of my family has made me realise how valuable these hospices are. They help provide amazing support to both the sufferers of terminal illnesses and their families. So please! Dig deep guys, be it a few pennies or a couple of quid, everything helps! You can donate in person, on our pages, or via text (just see the details on our individual pages for text codes).
Cheers, Travis & Ian Bacon
