NBC Bird & Pest Solutions are working together to raise awareness and funds for the Hawk Conservancy Trust’s (HCT) ‘Caring for Kestrels’ program.
Since the 1980’s the number of kestrels in the wild have declined to such an extent that the British Trust for Ornithology have categorised them ‘Amber’ on the Birds of Conservation Concern (BoCC) listings.
As part of the program, the HCT have arranged a ‘Nest Box Challenge’ weekend on the 13th & 14th August. The event will see 10 teams of five people installing 106 kestrel nest boxes in designated study areas around Hampshire.
A team from Head Office in Attleborough, Norfolk will be cycling the 170+ miles to the Hawk Conservancy Trust in Andover.
The intrepid rides, John Dickson (Managing Director) and Duncan Jones (Marketing Manager) will be setting off on the 4th October 2012 to complete the 170+ mile journey, in 3 days. They will cycle through the relatively flat Norfolk countryside through to the rolling hills of Hampshire with other member of the NBC UK team joining along the route.
Steve Dale, area manger for Bromley & Croydon, will be setting off on his own 90+ mile journey from Bromley to the HCT. He will join up with the head office team along the way to complete the trip together.
