Losing a baby at any stage is heartbreaking but it is a surprisingly common occurrence for many couples. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, 1 in 18 babies in the UK is born prematurely and 1 in 175 babies is stillborn. Often, couples suffer their grief in silence so the scale of the problem is unknown to the wider public.
