Thank you for visiting our 'team' page in memory of our Mum, Lynn. It is here that we are asking for donations instead of flowers for Sue Ryder and Macmillan Cancer Care. Read on for a little bit of our story and why we have chosen these two charities.
Mum is the bravest person we will ever know. She fought off 3 different types of cancer a total of 4 times over the past 20+ years. But in 2016 she was diagnosed with terminal metastatic breast cancer. This was one fight she could not win, and yet she continued to fight.
On Saturday 6th January, 2018, Mum was finally able to stop fighting and passed away in her sleep.
Throughout the last 20 years Mum always put us kids and others first. We have seen this through the lovely memories and kind words people have been sharing with us since mum passed away.
Since her terminal diagnosis Mum became a passionate advocate for others with secondary cancers, as often they can go unnoticed in the media. For this reason we have chosen two charities that work closely with those with secondary cancer, and who supported Mum and us as a family as we walk this path.
Macmillan Cancer Support have supported Mum and Dad on and off throughout the years.
Sue Ryder gave mum somewhere to go on a Friday for the past couple of months, are providing support for us as a family since her passing. More importantantly though, the team at Leckhampton Court Hospice provided Mum with excellent care in her last days; and we are so grateful to them for this.
So instead of flowers for Mum's funeral, we are asking for donations towards these two wonderful charities. We would like to try and keep donations approximately equal between the two, if possible!
