Le Tour de Select
36 participants. 3,480KM.
4 bikes. 4 days.
From the 29th July to the 1st August, Data Select employees along with Brandpath, Truly, Jessops, PJ Investment Group and PRS& are taking part in the Le Tour de Select.
Four spinning bikes will be set-up with nine hour sessions per day and 36 competitors!
Inspired by the 100th anniversary of The Yellow Jersey at the Tour de France, our mission is to hit 3,480KM, (the same distance as the Tour de France), across the four days in an epic team battle.
Each hourly session will see one rider win the yellow jersey and the three riders with the greatest distance achieved stand up on the podium to receive a medal!
We are doing this to raise funds for the Peter Jones Foundation which will support two amazing charities, Brain Tumour Research and The Lily Foundation with the money raised.
The Peter Jones Foundation was established in 2005 and over the last 14 years has helped thousands of young people. The Foundation delivers world-class enterprise education through our Foundation for Enterprise (FFE) and supports some of the most disadvantaged young people to improve their lives through our Foundation for Children (FFC). We have raised funds and made donations to over 20 charities.
Brain Tumour Research are the only national charity in the UK that is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours and are a leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer. Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this.
The Lily Foundation is the UK's leading charity dedicated to fighting mitochondrial disease. Their mission is to support people whose lives are affected by the condition, raise awareness and fund research into its prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Millions of people in the UK suffer from diseases in which mitochondrial dysfunction is believed to be involved, and every day in the UK a baby is born that will develop mitochondrial disease. The Lily Foundation is fighting to change this, with their ultimate aim being to one day find a cure.
Thank you to The Marlow Club and Gym Jedi for providing the spinning bikes and free club access.
