The Lady Zaynab Helping Hands (LZHH) appeal is working in Syria to provide families with winter essentials, medical assessments and treatments – along with emergency aid in the form of food baskets, education supplies and home supplies.
In February 2018, a dedicated team will be travelling to the Zainabiya area of Damascus Syria to help those in urgent need around the area surrounding the Shrine of Sayeda Zainab (SA), the Beloved Granddaughter Of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). We have 2 months to raise funds and we need your help.
Syria is still in turmoil after years of conflict and around 6 million people are left internally displaced, having escaped their hometowns in search of safety.
Temperatures are currently dropping and those widows and orphans who arrived with little or no possessions, are at risk from the cold winter months.
They are living in temporary shelter or abandoned buildings, exposed to the bitter elements. In these conditions, children will be more likely to fall ill with diseases, like chest infections and pneumonia, and without nutritional food, their immune systems will be fragile and may result in the loss of life.
The UNHCR estimates that some of the 4.8 million refugees those who may have been living temporarily in neighbouring countries are now returning to their homeland after years of displacement. Damage to their homes and property have left families without adequate protection against the harsh weather conditions.
