For my big '60' in May, I am taking on the 2016 Isle of Wight Ultimate Challenge - a 106km walk around the stunning coast of the Isle of Wight - all in one go over the weekend of 30th April/1st May. Ahead of this, on the 10th April, I am having my head shaved; to show my solidarity to women who experience medical hair loss and to demonstrate that you can still look and feel great whether you choose to wear a personally styled wig or not.
Being passionate about helping women increase their self-esteem and confidence through improving their self-image and appearance, I decided to set myself the target of raising a total of £4,000 for three inspiring charities for the wonderful help and support they give to ladies affected by the personally devastating side-effects of cancer treatment.
£3,000: The Earl Mountbatten Hospice care for people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers, whilst also providing a range of alternative therapies including Look Good Feel Better workshops.
£500: Look Good Feel Better is the only international cancer support charity, providing practical and very effective free services for women and teenagers suffering from the visible side effects from cancer treatment.
£500: mynewhair by Salons That Care is a pioneering charity founded by and inspired by Trevor Sorbie MBE. They provide public advice and support a national network of independent salons and professionals who provide a wig styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.
