The Four Bridges Cycle Challenge 2016
https://www.facebook.com/4bridges
Who?
Two 40+ chunky blokes (Kenny Lang & Craig Fyfe) from Larbert and Uddingston respectively, both entering the mid-life crisis stage and needing to prove they still have the right stuff.
Why?
Kenny was diagnosed in 2013 with a serious (and relatively rare) auto-immune kidney disease called Membranous Glomerulonephritis. The amazing team from the Forth Vally NHS Renal Unit looked after him (and continue to do so), and after almost 12 months of treatment he reached a full remission.
Two thirds of patients with this condition don't achieve full remission, and as many as one third progress to full renal failure without any level of remission. The condition can also return at any time and without much warning.
Kenny was one of the lucky guys, and as such he wants to give as much as possible back to those who helped him, and to also help other renal patients who haven't been as fortunate as him.
After undertaking the 56 mile Pedal for Scotland cycle challenge last year to raise money for the FVRH Renal Unit, the 2016 challenge is going a bit further, and the proceeds will be split 50/50 between the Forth Valley Renal Unit and Kidney Kids Scotland (who are based in Stenhousemuir).
Where?
Glasgow to Newcastle, 200 Miles, 3 Days, stopping at the four major bridges along the way (Clyde Arc, Forth, Royal Tweed and Tyne).
When?
4th, 5th & 6th August 2016
All funds raised will be split 50/50 equally between FVRH and Kidney Kids Scotland.
