***Salters' YLF Yorkshire Three Peaks - CHALLENGE COMPETED! ***

Our intrepid team of Young Livery & Freedom members, fellow Salters, family and friends completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last Saturday 5 June (a 24 mile continuous circular hike incorporating the summits of Pen-y-Ghent, 694m, Whernside, 736m, and Ingleborough, 723m all in under 12 hours!).

The title 'Challenge' is certainly well-deserved - it was an incredibly gruelling day with many a blister, aching bone and pulled muscle sustained by each member of the team in their courageous efforts to finish the circuit. Unfortunately, two of our members had to retire after the second peak due to injuries, but 11 of the 13 starters completed the Challenge in well under 12 hours (with the leading three members finishing in a very commendable 8 hours 30 minutes) - a fantastic achievement by all.

We are extremely grateful for the extraordinary support and generosity of everyone who has already contributed to our incredible sponsorship total.

The funds raised will make a significant difference to many young lives across the UK. Young Minds works hard to help young people manage and overcome mental health issues - an extremely important cause, particularly under the unprecedented circumstances posed by the pandemic. The thought of contributing such an enormous sum certainly helped motivate us all to go the extra mile and push our bodies and minds to the limit on Saturday, so thank you.
