Story
On 7 April 2024, several of the Wiles and a few brilliant family friends will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in memory of our family heads Mary and David Wiles as well as our dear friend Toni Millard.
There will be 10 of us are running in two teams. Angie, Jeremy, Tanya, Michelle and Charles will be running for Bowel Cancer UK and Charlotte, Charlie, Barnaby, Lauren and Alana are running for Dementia UK. These two charities are extremely close to our hearts. Sadly it will be 10 years this year since we lost our amazing family friend Toni Millard and over a year since we lost Jeremy's gorgeous Mum Mary, Queen of the Wiles family, to bowel cancer. In recent years, we also lost Jeremy’s Dad and our Grandad David, and Charlotte’s Nan Grace, to the cruel disease that is dementia.
Inspired by these close friends and family whom we have lost too soon, all 10 of us will be taking on the 13.1 miles route which will take us through the centre of London past some of the City's most iconic landmarks - Somerset House, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Bank of England, Monument and The Tower of London. The home stretch will see us run along the River Thames and over Westminster Bridge to finish at Downing Street.
Training is well underway with the miles quickly clocking up as the weeks go on - though the younger legs are definitely faring better and quicker!
We are extremely conscious times are tough and funds are tight but if you could spare a little something to support us - donating to your preferred charity of choice - we will do our best to do you proud and to raise funds for our much loved lost ones.
We will be sure to keep you updated on Instagram with our training (and Jelly Baby consumption!) and will share some photos with you of how we get on on the day.
