We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Our Mum and Gran, Ann O'Rourke, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia in September 2017, and with this we have seen the slow decline of our vibrant and fun loving mum to a shadow of her former self.

Luckily for us we have a wonderful Father and Grandfather, Patsy O'Rourke, who looks after mum at home in a loving and safe environment meaning mum can remain at home through this illness and challenging time in everyone's life. Alzheimer's Society is an organisation that provides support and advice to families like ours and we would like to undertake this challenge to enable us to raise money for them and recognise, in our own small way, the work that groups like Alzheimer's Society do for suffers and their families.

Wee Ann's Weans is team of 10 members ranging in age from 21 through to 54, consisting of all her kids and her grandchildren, that are old enough to undertake the race, with varying levels of fitness to match the range of ages on display. For many of us this will be the first attempt at anything like this, a hugely daunting prospect, however we are driven on by the wonderful support received through the donations pledged. We have a huge target to meet therefore anything you can pledge is greatly received and goes a long way to helping Alzheimer's Society continue to provide critical support to families like ours.

Many thanks,

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
