Through effective services, support and connections, we will enable children and families to improve their life outcomes; to promote a stronger, healthier, caring and safer community for individuals to thrive in.
The Sunshine Centre was initiated by the community to provide activities and support for families in January 1998. We are situated in the heart of Bretch Hill, an area of significant deprivation, surrounded by more affluence areas which compounds the deprivation further. We are trusted and respected by children, families, the community, and partner agencies including, statutory, voluntary and local groups. For 23 years we have provided education, support services and social opportunities for all members of the community. At the centre individuals can find support those who have experience of Domestic Abuse, low mental health, parenting issues, food deprivation, financial advice, housing support. We also work to keep children and vulnerable adults safe and reduce loneliness and isolation. The services start pre-birth with our unique Saplings work in partnership with our community midwives. Our childcare is open 51 weeks of the year, 8am-6pm. We have adapted and grown with the community responding to local needs and national trends. During the pandemic other services shrank away from our community but we dug deeper to ensure we were there at a time of increasing need.
